Smuggs' Owners - Smugglers' Notch Timeshares, Vermont

Vermont Timeshares For Sale and For Rent

Renters FAQ’s

1. Should you rent a timeshare?

Answer. Absolutely! The timeshare homes available for rent at Smuggs’ are some of the nicest properties you’ll find there or at any other resort. These rentals are often available at much less than you would pay to rent directly through the resort itself. Plus, if you like the home once you’ve rented it and lived in it for a few days, you might even be able to purchase it and guarantee its availability to you and your family year after year. Check out our website to see those timeshare properties currently listed for sale.

2. What’s included with a timeshare rental at smuggs’?

Answer. Use of the rental home. In addition, some properties have private amenities that are available to the owners and their renters. We recommend renters purchase the “SmuggsPass” to fully enjoy the total vacation experience at Smuggs’.

3. What is a “SmuggPass”?

Answer. For renters at Smuggs’ during the SUMMER, we recommend what is known as the SmuggsPass (“Your Pass to Fun at Smugglers’ Notch Resort”). It entitles everyone staying in the home access to the following activities and facilities, plus great discounts on award-winning children’s programs and shopping! For up-to-date information and full features about the SmuggsPass click here.

4. Do you need to pay tax on a timeshare rental?

Answer. Most often the answer is”no”. The State of Vermont Tax Department says that a rooms tax should be collected on vacation rentals, but there are two exceptions: 1) no tax is required when total days that the property is rented per year are fewer than 15 days (these first 14 days are taxable if you rent for more than 14 days in a year), and 2) no tax is required when a rental to a single tenant is for more than 30 continuous days and there is a pre-existing written lease.
Most timeshare owners own one or two weeks of timeshare so they are potentially renting for 14 days or fewer. This saves you and the owner money, a win-win for each of you!
